America just hit Iran with 90 strikes on day two — and Iran fired back at four Gulf states including a US air base in Jordan
The U.S. struck roughly 90 Iranian military targets on a second consecutive day as the ceasefire collapsed, hitting missile batteries, drone sites, and naval infrastructure. Iran retaliated against Kuwait,
The attacks appeared bigger all around, with sirens sounding at least three times in Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet headquarters, and missiles targeting Kuwait and Qatar.
America said it launched “powerful strikes” on Iran in response to reported Iranian attacks on ships sailing through the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier America’s Treasury Department revoked a temporary licence allowing Iran to sell oil.
Iran’s nuclear facility at Natanz was supposed to be untouchable: buried underground, sealed off from the internet, and protected from foreign attack. But instead of bombs or missiles, the United States and Israel allegedly used a covert cyberweapon that secretly sabotaged the centrifuges from the inside.
The US-Iran conflict is entering a critical phase as fresh American strikes hit Iran, including the strategic port city of Chabahar, while Tehran responds with attacks across the Gulf. At the centre of the crisis is the Strait of Hormuz,
President Donald Trump declared the ceasefire over amid escalating strikes. Both sides are vying for control of the Strait of Hormuz.
On Tuesday Nigel Farage, the leader of the populist-right Reform UK, resigned as the constituency’s MP, then said he would seek re-election in the safe seat. He framed the contest as “people versus the establishment”.
The big news is that the United States and Iran are no longer openly at war. That is, in itself, a win that likely saved lives a week after President Donald Trump signed a memorandum of understanding in France to halt the fighting.
When the United States and Israel launched the war on Iran in February, their plan was simple: bomb Iran until either the Iranian public rose up and overthrew the government, or the existing government capitulated to American demands.
