Italian Penicillin Soup! Easy and inexpensive soup to keep you warm 4 cups chicken broth 6 cups water 3 celery stalks 3 carrots 1 whole yellow onion 6 cloves garlic 1 tablespoon paprika 2 teaspoons black pepper 1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes 1 cup dried pastina noodles (can use small shells) Instructions in video. Broth can be canned or frozen. I would not recommend canning or freezing with noodles in broth. Can or freeze now and add noodles once reheated. #homemade #soup #recipes #budgetfrie

This is the soup I always make when we are sick. Pastina Soup aka “Penicillin Soup” -6 cups low-sodium chicken broth -1 medium onion, sliced into large pieces. -2 carrots, peeled and sliced into large pieces. -2 celery ribs, sliced into large pieces. -Salt to taste -1 1/2 cup pastina or any tiny pasta variety. -Grated parmesan cheese or homemade croutons for topping (optional) Add chopped veggies and chicken broth to a pot. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat and let simmer for 20-30 minutes

“Italian Penicillin” or Pastina to us, was a staple in our house growing up when we were under the weather. Mom and Nonna made it for us and I swear within a day we were feeling better😂 they had all the tricks and old wives tales to fix everything. I know if I can be half the mama they were, I’ll be alright :) 4 cups organic chicken or veggie broth 6 cups water 3 celery ribs, cut in half 3 carrot stalks, peeled and cut in half 6 garlic cloves, whole 1 whole onion, yellow or white 1tsp salt 1-2t

nourishing pastina soup aka Italian penicillin Recipe linked in my comments! This is my version of the classic packed with sneaky vegetables & bone broth. The OG version adds eggs as well, I’m intrigued but haven’t tried that. Of course now I’m out with her cold. The last bowl of this soup was everything my body needed today!
